Payload capacities of up to 5800 pounds are available in the 2005 super duty trucks, with tow ratings of up to 17,000 pounds. The ford f-250 super duty competes with the dodge ram 2500, chevrolet silverado 2500, and gmc sierra 2500. The f-350, with its available dual rear wheels, competes against the 3500-series models from gm and dodge. None of these, however, match the super duty's top payload and towing capacities. the 2005 super duty pickups continue to feature first-class powertrains. Both of the v8 gas engines are upgraded for 2005. The standard 5. 4-liter v8 is now based on ford's modular v8 architecture and incorporates three valves per cylinder for better breathing, improved power delivery and cleaner exhaust. Also, towcommand requires the automatic transmission. the fx4 off-road package 225) adds skid plates and rancho shock absorbers; the steering damper. walkaroundford bestowed on the 2004 f-150 much of the brawny, no-nonsense look we liked about the previous generation of the company's f-250 and f-350 pickups. This meant the 2005 super duty line had to have its own spruced up, new look. The lower front fascia is beefier, too, adding to the impression of mass in motion. otherwise, the styling of the 2005 models doesn't differ much from the 2004s. The cab's dropped sill line gives it a sense of openness and accessibility. It also makes climbing in easier, a welcome feature when juggling tools, briefcases, or even toddlers. A distinctive dip along the front door side glass improves the driver's view of the exterior mirrors, a big help when towing a trailer or for seeing around cargo boxes or dump-truck bodies. The harley-davidson specials sport a unique, tautly meshed grille; color choices consist of black, black and orange, and black and gray; factory-applied flame graphics are a new option 675). the tow hitch receiver has been increased from 2 inches to 2 1/2 inches for increased towing capacity. interiorford super duty trucks are very roomy, with comfortable, spacious seats and plenty of hip and shoulder room. truck owners spend a lot of time in their vehicles, so ford's interior designers paid a lot of attention to comfort and convenience. The standard interior features a fold-down armrest, a floor console that can accommodate a laptop, and a removable hanging storage bin that can attach to the dash. Even the standard bench seats recline. Two large cupholders are provided. The standard cigar lighter is augmented with a second auxiliary power outlet conveniently mounted up in the dash to the right of the climate control switches. controls are big and easy to reach and manipulate. The instrument array is new, with large, round speedometer and tachometer, bracketed by oil pressure and fuel level gauges to the left and transmission temperature (on trucks with automatics) and coolant temperature gauges to the right. Any of the current mustangs is quieter, better built, better equipped and more refined than ever, but still visually engaging and good fun to drive. improvements for 2012 include more standard features and a selectable power steering system that changes steering effort and feedback from comfort to normal to sport at the driver's selection. the big news, however, is the return of the mustang boss 302. It's a modern take on one the great cars in american road-racing lore. the mustang is available as a coupe, a convertible or a unique glass-roof coupe. The top-selling mustang v6 and gt models are offered in all three body styles, in standard trim or a more feature-laden premium level, with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Even the extra-powerful boss and shelby gt500 mustangs deliver reasonable fuel-economy, given the performance potential. The level of fun varies primarily with the potency of the engine selected. the standard mustang v6 makes the basic stylistic statement and comes well equipped for about $23,000 with destination charge 28,000 for the convertible). It also delivers 31 mpg highway with the automatic, according to the epa, and it makes quiet, comfortable daily transportation. It gets 26 mpg highway, and is just as easy to live with as the v6, with the same 13. 2 feet of trunk space and folding rear seat. the new boss 302 is geared toward enthusiast drivers who look forward to track days. Its 5. 0-liter v8 is massaged to rev higher and deliver a more high-strung 444 horsepower, and everything else in the boss is tuned to sharpen its reflexes. The california special 1,995) edition for the gt adds 19-inch painted alloy wheels, a chrome billet grille with tri-bar pony badge, unique lower front fascia with fog lamps and a host of other appearance tweaks functional interior upgrades start with the electronics group 2,340), which includes a navigation system and dual-zone automatic climate control. The comfort group 595) adds heated front seats and a six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. The reverse sensing system and security package 595) adds back-up distance warning, while hid headlamps 920) improve forward illumination. walkaroundthe mustang boss 302 model, new for 2012, is a true attention grabber. To set this mustang apart, ford builds each with either a black or white roof panel, color-coordinated to the c-shaped graphics on its flanks. A low, aggressive splitter on the boss's front air dam is also functional, improving engine cooling and adding downforce to the front tires. The boss 302 is a good looking car, striking for sure, and nearly impossible not to notice. All variants start with a welded steel unibody (as opposed to a separate body and chassis), and half the body weight is high-strength, low-alloy steel. Mustang is by far the lightest of the new breed of pony cars, beating the chevy camaro by 300 pounds and the dodge challenger by as much as 500 pounds. The weight savings provide a definite advantage, in both performance and fuel economy. ford took several steps to improve noise, vibration and harshness control when it reworked the mustang for 2010. Additional sound-deadening material on the instrument panel and a rear wheel arch liners help drivers hear the sounds they want (namely the engine) and avoid the sounds that can be a distraction (such as dash creaks and tire noise). .
